Thousands of people in Washington State use a bicycle as a primary means of transportation. A bicycle, when operated on a roadway, must follow the same rules and regulations as a motor vehicle. Regrettably, drivers in automobiles oftentimes do not see bike riders and there are a large number of injuries and fatalities each year. Bicycles are lighter and much less visible than all other vehicles on the roadway, and when a bicycle rider is hit by a motor vehicle, the injuries tend to be much more severe. 

It is important to make yourself as visible as possible, obey the rules of the road and use extreme caution when riding a bicycle on the roadway with automobiles.
